From error-prone Excel to accurate smart-meter billing in two months.
A purpose-built billing application replaced manual spreadsheets, ingested GSM smart-meter readings and consistently applied a complex multi-category tariff structure.
Billing depended on Excel even though different consumer categories carried distinct rates, slabs and business rules. Manual calculation created incorrect bills, disputes, rework and person-dependency.
Consumption readings arrived directly from GSM-enabled smart meters. That raw data still had to be matched reliably to consumer accounts before the correct tariff could be applied.
We encoded the complete tariff structure in a rules-based engine so the same logic is applied consistently to every consumer.
The application ingests readings downloaded from smart meters, maps them to the correct accounts and completes the billing workflow without rebuilding calculations in spreadsheets.
